Interlock Duplex

2013
Housing |  Speculative

This apartment duplex explores the ideas of public and private programs by analyzing the spatial qualities of intersecting forms. The anatomy of a particular program is derived from the intersection of two or more basic cube spaces. The type of intersection that takes place depends on the program. Programs that are more public are formed through half-intersections of these cube spaces, while private programs are formed by a complete intersection, with one cube fully enclosing another. The overall design offers privacy from the street, yet allows a level of intimacy between the two units.
